About us

We are an independent, autonomous Baptist church in fellowship with the Northwest Conservative Baptist Association (aka Church Venture Northwest) and all like-minded believers.

What we Believe

In the interest of preserving doctrinal and practical unity as mentioned in Article IV of the Cornelius Community Church constitution, members shall not propagate, teach, or manifest doctrines and practices that would be divisive or conflicting with Scripture and the doctrinal positions approved by the Board of Elders. (Eph. 4:3, 13; Jude 3)

THE BIBLE

Its 66 books, written by men uniquely moved by the Holy Spirit, are the plenary verbally inspired Word of God, infallible, without error in the original writings, and are the Christian’s supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16; I Peter 1:25; II Peter 1:20-21)

GOD AND THE TRINITY

There is one God, Creator of all things, infinite in wisdom, perfect in Holiness, measureless in power, eternally existing in 3 persons:  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of man, hearing and answering prayer, saving from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19-20; Jude 3:21; John 1:1-2; John 10:30; Hebrews 9:14; Rev. 1:8)

JESUS CHRIST

Pre-existent, incarnate, God’s only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless in life, atoned for the sins of the world by His substitutionary death on the cross. He bodily rose from death, ascended into Heaven, makes priestly intercession as sole mediator for His people, and will return, visibly, pre-millennially from Heaven. (Is. 7:14; Micah 5:2; Matt. 1:18-25; John 1:14; Acts 1:11; II Cor. 5:21; Heb; 4:15; I Tim. 1:15; I Pet. 2:24)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The 3rd person of the Trinity convicts mankind of sin, of righteousness and judgment; to simultaneously regenerate, permanently seal, indwell, guide, instruct, distribute gifts to and empower all believers for Godly service. It is with the Holy Spirit that Christ baptizes all believers into one body, His Church. (John 14:16-17, 26; John 16:8-15; Rom. 5:5; Rom. 8:9-11; I Cor. 3:16; I Cor. 6:19; 12:12-14; II Cor 1:22; 13:14; Eph. 1:13-14)

MAN

Created in the image of God, sinned in Adam, now a sinner by nature and by choice and is therefore lost. However, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. But, those who reject Christ as Savior and Lord will be forever separated from God and be cast into the lake of fire for eternal punishment. (Gen. 1:26-27; Mk. 9:43-44; John 3:16; 33; Rom. 3:22-24; Rom. 6:23; I Tim. 2:13-14; Eph. 2:1-3; James 3:9; II Thes. 1:9; Rev. 20:15)

SALVATION

Man is saved from the eternal penalty of sin by grace alone, through faith in Christ. It is God’s gift to man, apart from human merit, works or ceremonies. All who are born-again shall be kept forever secure by the power of God. (John 1:12; 3:16; 10:27-29; Rom. 5:1; 8:14-17; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; Phil. 1:5-8; I John 5:13)

SATAN

Satan is a created angel who became the author of sin by rebelling against God, and is now the prince of the corrupt, anti-God world-system. He shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire. (Job 1:6-12; Ex. 28:11; John 8:44; 14:30; II Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; Rev. 20:10)

THE CHURCH

The Church consist of all believers in Christ, united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head, representing Him in the World, meeting in local, independent and autonomous congregations each with its members and appointed officers. (I Cor. 12:12-13; Eph. 1:22-23; II Cor. 11:2; Gal. 3:26; Heb. 10:25; Titus 1:5; I Tim 3:1-13)

THE ORDINANCES

Christ commanded believers to obey 2 ordinances:  water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Water baptism by immersion, soon after accepting Christ as personal Savior, is the testimony of faith that the believer is dead to sin and risen to new life in Christ. The Lord’s Supper commemorates in sacred and symbolic manner Christ’s death until He comes. (Mat. 28:19-20; 26:26-30; Acts 8:35-39; Rom. 6:3-5; I Cor. 11:23-26)

THE PRIESTHOOD OF THE BELIEVER(S)

All who are born of God have equality of direct access to God and there is no distinction in their exercise of that priesthood in their personal relationship with the Lord. (I Peter 2:5, 9; Gal. 3:26-28; Heb. 2:10-18; 4:14-16; Rev. 1:6)

ETERNAL LIFE

There will be the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost; the saved to eternal blessedness and the lost to the everlasting suffering. (John 14:1-3; Mat. 25:46; I Thes. 4:16-18)

THE LAST THINGS

Jesus Christ will remove His Church to Heaven before the Tribulation and will return visibly and bodily to the earth to establish His Kingdom and rule on the earth for 1000 years. (Zechariah 14:4-11; I Cor. 15:12-58; Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15)
